Berkeley Athletics
Berkeley Athletics enriches the lives of students, showcasing the importance of physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle, as well as a strong work ethic. About 78% of our sixth to twelfth grade students in Middle and Upper Division compete in 17 interscholastic sports on more than 80 teams. This dynamic environment fosters important life skills such as teamwork, leadership, resilience, personal growth, and sportsmanship that build a foundation for success both on and off the field.
A combination of sound coaching, focus and drive, giving their best during practice, talent, and academic preparation has allowed our students to garner varsity roster spots from dozens of top colleges. Berkeley, a member of the Florida High School Athletic Association and the Florida West Coast League, annually ranks as a “top five” athletic program among over 80 Tampa Bay public and private schools. Our varsity teams play against the state’s best competition, as well as in some of the nation’s finest tournaments.
Berkeley’s state-of-the-art facilities, which sit on an 86-acre campus, rival and often surpass what you’ll find on most college campuses, allowing our student-athletes to build strength, speed, and agility as they train during workouts and compete in games. Another perk: The community at Berkeley bursts with school spirit! Students show their pride for our teams by wearing branded apparel from the Treasure Cove Spirit Shop, cheering on the Bucs at athletic contests, and attending fun pep rallies throughout the school year. This positive energy creates a supportive and exciting environment for our student-athletes.

Our four-person staff provides injury prevention, treatment, rehabilitation services, and athlete education.
The top priority for our athletic trainers is to ensure that all student-athletes attain the highest potential for safe and effective participation in their chosen sports.
The staff also carefully monitors the weather, taking special precautions when necessary, during outdoor practices or games, if there is excessive heat or the presence of lightning.
Did you know that Berkeley offers a Student-Athlete Leadership Program?
During the fall, winter, and spring sports seasons, juniors and seniors on varsity teams are selected—either by their coaches or peers—to become team captains and are automatically enrolled in this outstanding enrichment opportunity.
Each group of students attends a Saturday seminar, as well as several lunch meetings throughout the season to troubleshoot any challenges they may be facing and gain valuable insights from others who are in similar positions.
The program develops confident, resilient, and empathetic student-athlete leaders who can motivate teammates, foster a positive team culture, and inspire peak performance.
